Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel // REVIEW

A cult classic we've all heard of before. The Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel cream bronzer has been around for many many years and is definitely cult in the beauty industry. For the longest time I've put off buying it because it's a universal shade that is supposed to fit everyones skin tone (already sounds like some bs, doesn't it?). Since I have extremely fair skin.. well, usually "universal" doesn't work for me.

I had been in a good mood, wandering around Venice with my family and my fiancé so I went to check out the Chanel Beauty store and asked to try out the Soleil Tan de Chanel. The guy working there was extremely helpful and immediately put it on my face. I had no make up on underneath and it looked really nice and natural. I bought it, obviously and (spoiler alert) - I love it.

I mean, I understand why I was so scared of it for so long, it does look quite orange when you look at it but something about the formula is just amazing.

There are several brushes you can use with it and they'll all change the way it looks on your face. A lot of people I've seen use a brush with short, thick, tightly packed bristles like a foundation brush. This is going to make the product a lot more pigmented and I personally don't use it like that, nor do I recommend to do so if you're super fair like me. Many people also use it with a stippling, duo fibre brush because it's a cream product and those types of brushes work amazingly with cream products.

My favourite brush to use it with (and I learned from the lovely Chanel make up artist in the store) is a fluffy bronzer/blush brush. For reference, mine is the Real Techniques Blush Brush. I just lightly swirl it around in the product and apply it to my face like I would with a regular powder bronzer. The guy in the Chanel store used a similar brush and a very light hand to apply the product and it looked stunning. It places the right amount of product, gives the nicest pigmentation and also blends out all at the same time. In the end, you're left with a very natural tanned look.

I compared it to a few popular powder bronzers that I have in my collection, just to give you an idea of the shade and how much more orange it is than your regular bronzers. And still, somehow the finish it gives is not orangey, spray-tan looking in my opinion.

I've never been into cream products until I tried this. I had always been afraid that they are super hard to work with, either stay tacky or get blotchy if you go over with a powder product to set it down. Everything about cream product just seemed so much more complicated but the Soleil Tan de Chanel is a dream to work with. It blends out easily, it doesn't get blotchy, it actually is quite a universal shade for fair to medium skin tones, it smells nice. I don't have anything negative to say except for the high price tag.
