Korean Skincare // An Update

A few months ago I did a big korean skincare haul on my blog and after using the products for quite a while now, I'm finally able to give a good review and update on the products, which ones I love and which ones I didn't fall head over heels for.

The Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil by The Face Shop that I got to take off my make up in the evening works really well. I have not tested it with waterproof mascara since I don't own any but I feel like you would need another pump of the oil to specifically take off the mascara.

I decided to purchase the Heimish All Clean Balm to use once I run out of the oil just to see which one I prefer and will continue to buy.

The cleansing oil definitely leaves an oily film on your face which I don't enjoy so I go in with the COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser to further clean my face and get the oil completely off. I use the gel cleanser day and night and I've already re-purchased. I think it's amazing in the morning to just help your skin wake up and in the evening I love how it takes off the rest of my make up that the oil might not have gotten off. If you're looking for a make up remover, this is surely not it but it's an amazing, simple cleanser.

I just recently got the COSRX Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser which I have not tried yet but I'm hoping it's going to be good.

Another thing I got was the Lemon Sparkling Peeling Gel by Secret Key. I don't use this one on an everyday basis, I usually use it once a week or sometimes less, it really depends on the amount of make up I have been wearing that week. I haven't quite made up my mind about this one. I think the little flakes you get from massaging it into your skin aren't your dead skin coming off, I'm pretty sure it's just the way the product dissolves. I don't notice too much of a difference in my skin from this peeling gel so once I run out, I'm going to try out different exfoliators.

The COSRX Galactomyces Alcohol-Free Toner is not a life changing product for me either. It's a nice toner, don't get me wrong but I'm not seeing it do much to my skin either. I'm going to be buying a different toner from COSRX just to try out and see if it's any better.

A product that I do love is the Starting Treatment Essence (Rose Edition) by Secret Key. I am already onto my second bottle and ordered a third one already. I like to put it on a cotton pad and rub it onto my face lightly. I can't tell you what exactly it does to my face, I just find it to be quite calming and soothing on my skin. It hasn't irritated my sensitive skin in any way either.

The little sample trio from Laneige that I bought is used up completely. The Eye Sleeping Mask was nice to use while I had it but was no must have for me. I still haven't found an eye cream that I absolutely swear by. The Water Sleeping Mask was extremely nice to use. I found it hydrated my skin quite nicely, but I didn't repurchase it yet. I might do so in the future though since I did enjoy using it a lot. The last sample in the kit was the Lip Sleeping Mask which I still have a little bit left of and I love it. I went ahead and bought the full size of it a few weeks ago because it's that good. I love the way it moisturizes my lips and it gives them a little bit of a rosy sheen and makes the lines on my lips less noticeable.

A product that I did not mention in my korean skincare haul but did end up purchasing a bit later on was the It's Skin Power 10 Formula VC Effector. This serum is my holy grail. I have tried a lot of serums in the past few months but this one is by far my favourite. It's definitely going to be repurchased and I'm keen on trying out the other serums in this range. Once I have a little blemish on my skin, I put this serum on and the next time I wash my face in the AM or PM, it's gone. It keeps my skin pimple free and I also find that it calmed my redness quite a bit too. I don't know what magic is in this, but I love it.

Using that many new skincare products makes it a little hard to tell which product exactly did what, but I find that this new skincare I'm using is helping my skin a lot. I haven't had any real breakouts ever since, the texture on my forehead has gotten better and I haven't had as many whiteheads around my nose either. The redness on my cheeks and nose has gone down quite a bit and my skin overall looks a lot healthier too.
