My Top Tips on Stress Relief // Pamper Yourself

It's important to take care of your own self from time to time, we all get stressed out and caught up in things and forget to actually take some time and relax. I know from own experience, that stress can be the cause for problematic skin and can cause acne, it can impact your overall health and of course you'll feel bad mentally too.

Over the years I have come up with a few different things that I like to do to pamper myself and relief the stress I might have had the days before so I can start motivated and relaxed into the new day.

1. Get enough sleep

When you're stressed, it's always important to get a good night's sleep. I know that sometimes when you're stressed, you can hardly sleep at night but you should definitely try to get good sleep. Even if it's just a one hour nap during the day, your body and mind will thank you.

2. Do some sports

A lot of people find it relaxing to do some sports when they are stressed. It's a good way to just let out all the emotions you might have and it might also help you sleep better at night because you've been burning off all your energy. If you're not comfortable going to the gym with loads of people around, you can also go jogging in the park or do at home workouts.

3. Take the dog for a long walk

I know for myself, I like to go for a long walk with my dog when I'm stressed or just not feeling right emotionally. Not only is it doing your own body some good, but also your dog is going to enjoy a long walk outside. For me, it's freeing my mind, just getting some alone time with myself and my puppy, maybe meeting other dog owners and letting the dogs play together - brings me joy too seeing my puppy playing with another dog.

I especially like to do that when I'm having a fight with my fiancé or family. I'll just take the dog and leave the apartment for some time to cool off and get a clear mind again.

4. A bubble bath, while watching your favourite Youtubers/TV Shows

Especially in the evenings or on a cloudy, rainy day, I like to take a hot bubble bath in our bath tub, close the door, turn off the lights, maybe even light a candle if it makes you happy and put my laptop on the side to catch up on my favourite Youtubers or watch my favourite TV Show. There is nothing better than a bubble bath keeping you warm on a cold day.

I love doing body scrubs, mostly this time around because in the colder months, my skin tends to get extremely dry and flaky. So using my favourite scrub to give my body a nice polish and follow up with a good body lotion to keep me moisturized is a must for me.

5. Doing face masks

When I'm not feeling all too good, I notice my skin is also become a lot more dull and dry. So what I like to do is put on my favourite face mask and take care of my skin. You can also put on a face mask while taking the bubble bath so you kill two birds with one stone.

My favourite thing to do is multi-masking, which means you take a few different face masks targeting different things and put them on your face. For example, take a mud masks for exfoliation and put it on your nose and forehead, a hydrating mask on your cheeks, a brightening mask on your chin etc. whatever it might be that the different parts on your face need.

6. Reading a book/magazine

I also love reading a good book or a magazine. But especially with books, I love the fact that you can just dive into a new world and forget your stress, escape your problems for a few hours. You just get so involved into the book that you are reading, it's super relaxing to me and it's even better when you find a book that you really love and just cannot put down.

If you have any good book recommendations, you can definitely leave them down below!

7. Catching up with your best friend

It's also always good to catch up with your best friend when you're stressed or in a bad mood. Maybe you didn't even have a lot of time to talk to your best friend, so catching up and seeing what they have been up to in the past couple of days/weeks/months is always nice.

Of course you can tell them about your problems if you need someone to vent to, and they will surely listen and try their best to help you. Having someone to listen to you is always relaxing in my eyes.

8. Write a journal

If you don't really like to talk to people, I find that writing a journal is extremely calming. Just sitting down on your own, taking a few minutes to yourself and writing down your thoughts is going to free your mind. There are no limits to what you can write, you don't have to watch your mouth, you just write down whatever comes to your mind and let it all out. Trust me when I tell you, afterwards you're going to feel so much better.
